November 2010 Received on 1/11/2010 17:22:30 01.11.10 PAKEMHAM (VIC) 17:00hrs Observation: Standing outside our house, talking to neighbours neighbour pointed to sky above our house - "What is that?" Twin bright blue/white lights with small tails (comet like) streaking across the sky. East to West. South of our house - guesstimate across Port Phillip Bay. Clear blue sky - almost like 2 sparklers. It disappeared behind clouds to the west. Moving at a speed equivalent to a helicopter flying across the sky, but at an obviously greater height. Moving at a faster speed than a jet, leaving no jet-stream or sound. Cannot estimate size as unsure of height, and appeared only as bright lights. Location: 3.5km north of Pakenham town centre. Looking south. - Actual Size: Given the height flying above the clouds, would have to be twice the size of a jumbo jet. - Altitude: high really high. - Object Origin: South east - approx above Philip Island. - Object Destination: South West - approx above Melbourne. - Moon Visible: No. Full sun - blue sky. some clouds. - Weather Visibility: Clear, Mild, Calm. - Weather Comments: some clouds - not many. 05.11.10 KEMPSAY (NSW) 01:15hrs Observation: I Had been doing some uni work, and I just ducked outside for a bit of a break and star gaze (common habit). Bit of fresh air to clear my head. It was overcast..... light drizzle on and off... Been outside for about five minutes and I was looking up almost directly above into the sky (80 degrees overhead) when I saw a group of lights (estimation of 8-10 lights) in a half boomerang formation goes by in a north-westerly direction. Overall the combined area taken up by the light formation were 4-5 full moons across. Each light, however, was about one-quarter diameter of the full moon. They were above semi-transparent clouds so this took a lot of their brightness out. Then as they drifted into a denser cloud formation and were almost out of sight a single ball of light came by in the opposite direction travelling south-east at the same altitude. This single light was travelling at a quicker speed than the main body but all lights were travelling at a good clip but long enough to get a decent view. Sighting probably lasted 20-25 seconds. I can`t believe it, I've spent so many hours in that backyard stargazing and saw nothing anomalous bar a few Description: The single light moved in the exact opposite direction at a quicker speed. It disappeared or obscured by denser cloud in the south-east. All lights were about a quarter diameter of a full moon. Location: Kempsey, NSW. - Apparent Size Other: All lights were circular and around a quarter-diameter The single light moved in an exact opposite direction (south-east). Object Destination: Main object -north-west single light - south-east. - Moon Visible: no moon visible - overcast conditions. - Moon Size Comparison: main body of lights collectively took about 4-5 moons of space up. But it was in a half boomerang (that is if you cut a boomerang in half) formation. - Planets Visible: No - Weather Sky: Cloudy. - Weather Comments: Overcast with intermittent drizzle. Objects observed through thin layers of cloud. 13.11.10 NEW ENGLAND HIGHWAY, MURRURNDI (NSW) 21:30hrs Observation: At approximately 9:30 pm Australian time while feeding our horses at a show ground my family, and I was drawn to the attention of strange lights in the sky in the south across the highway, moving slowly in some sort of group. We watched in amazement, discounting that It could be a Plane or Helichopter, and we could even just notice the mountain ranges in the skyline, and these lights were far too high to be a tower, etc. When we realised that this was out of the ordinary, I ran for my digital camera, which was over my saddle horn as I had been videoing the event at the show ground right before this. This would have been 50m there and back. I turned my camera on and went on to record what was happening. These strange lights had moved around since we had first noticed them, there was around 6 of them. I was disappointed as I thought the camera was not picking any of this up as I looked through at the sky, so after recording for 36sec, which seemed We had a presentation to attend, and so we had to walk away, and that was that. We didn't tell anyone there except my son's friend who also watched, we were camped pretty much away from the others, and as we didn't think we had captured footage didn't think much more till we got home, and I loaded images and videos off my camera to my computer. I was shocked that I had actually captured some on camera, I was very excited about this and on pausing the video at different times we were completely amazed at the detail. I have the original still on my digital camera, I didn't want to delete it until I speak with someone, But I managed to work out how to capture photos from the video and was even more convinced. On leaving that town early the next day I saw no tower or anything else it may have been. I would really like to speak to someone and have the footage analyzed and anything that may be explainable ruled out. Description: yes...Changes in shape and size, I figure due to some being larger or closer??? Also were different colours. Also they changed positions a few times from when we first noticed them to when we had to go. - Location: Murrurundi Showground NSW looking up across the highway roughly to the south. - Other Witnesses: Stuart, Shania and Cody, also one of Cody's friends in which at this stage I will not be getting involved.. - Apparent Size: Pea-Sized, - Apparent Size Other: pea and star sized, they were all different. - Actual Size: have no idea but big?? Altitude: if I knew how high the murrurundi/liverpool ranges were, well at least twice as high as that actual part. - Object Origin: approximately south, straight across the road from the show ground. - Object Destination: objects were still moving around when we had to leave. - Moon Visible: the sky was clear to the south, but cloudy to the north area the moon may have been. - Moon Size Comparison: smaller ones were larger than star size and others were larger. - Planets Visible: yes...but the stars were higher and the right. - Weather Visibility: Clear, Pleasant, Calm. - Weather Comments: It was clear where the objects were but a little cloudy behind us, it had a light sprinkling an hour or so before. - Viewing Aids: through eyes and filmed. Under Investigation 17.11.10 ELIZABETH GROVE (SA) 13:25hrs Observation: I was driving south past Elizabeth/Elizabeth Grove along Main North Rd. Both my son and I saw an unusual object about 5km out to the west at about 30 degrees up from the horizon either moving very slowly or motionless. Description: The object seemed to be of a flattish square shape, hovering or moving extremely slowly in a horizontal position. I estimate its size was about 10-15m squared. The underside was a whitish colour with dark geometrical lines, hard to tell but there could have been dark features on either its top or edge. It seemed to be quite a solid object as it looked very stable considering there was quite a bit of wind. - Apparent Size Other: Flattened square shape with a flat underside. - Actual Size: 10-15 metres squared. - Altitude: Not sure, about 5km away about 30 degrees from horizon. - Object Origin: Too slow to determine, might not have been moving. - Object Destination: Don't know, I was driving and couldn't stop. - Weather Visibility: Clear, Warm, Sunny, Breezy. Camera: Sony DSLR - A200 - Raw Image Dimensions 3872 x 2592 - Exposure time 0.003125 - First saw it at Mullaway at 10 and saw a flash and saw something but it was gone. He said it was very high in the sky - way above normal aircraft and RAAf traffic. Said it was like a saucer in shape with a stumpy little tail. 07.06.10 TENNAT CREEK (NT) 19:00hrs Observation: I can clarify exact time and date at a later date if needed but off the top of my head it was around the middle to end of June 2010. I work as a Navigator for an Aerial Surveying Company. We were flying from Kununurra WA to Tennant Creek NT early evening. We were on final approach to TC when both, I and the pilot both noticed 4 to 5 amber lights to the north of us. It was hard to gauge their distance as they were blinking on They would slowly move in different directions to each other while still staying in close proximity together. Every now and then, one would drop vertically down and then blink out and then relight up to a brilliant amber colour and join the others. The pilot joked that we were seeing "ooofo's" and then continued to land the plane. I lost sight of the objects about 100ft from the ground. There was another plane in front of us coming in from the east which was at a lower altitude and landing before us and I would say if anyone had looked out to their right, they would have seen the lights too. This was not the first time I have seen strange aerial phenomena and might report it later, but it was nearly twelve years ago. Description: Slow movements in and out of formation with vertical drops periodically before returning to the group. - Location: Airborne ferry landing at Tennant Creek, Other Witnesses: Just the pilot but he would prefer not to be named at this time. - Actual Size: Too hard to be accurate due to time of day and distance. - Altitude: They were slightly higher initially while we were at 4000ft. - Object Origin: They were to the North of us as we were flying East. 25.11.10 MALUA BAY (NSW) 22:20hrs Observation: I was looking at the saucepan or pot in the sky, the sky is very clear, I was having a cigarette , just left of the saucepan in a northern direction, I saw a very large gold sparkler kind effect went above my head and goes due north and disappears just before I saw it go out of sight over my next door neighbours rooftop, colour gold with a very small tail, size, 5 cent piece, shiny in appearance, very bright very fast, amazing to see. Description: Zero sound heard, sparkler effect, size was 5 cent piece, didn't see it hit the horizon, actually it disappeared above the neighbours rooftop. therefore, it was still high in the sky. It kept the same shape round, very small tail. - Apparent Size Other: 5 cent piece it was in the sky at a reasonably high altitude, I would say 5 times larger than the biggest star. - Actual Size: if I was to see a plane a small one in the sky in the daytime, like a Cessna, I would say 3/4 the size of that, but seeing it was night, and comparing it to the size of the clearest and biggest star, plus comparing it, to the extremely high altitude seen, I would say way away from the earths atmosphere, I would say a 5 cent peice size star wic is really big, 1/4 size of the moon. - Altitude: I saw it go over my head and travel a distance about three seconds, but it disappeared before I saw it go over any rooftop, I think it was up in the stars, it wasn't like a satellite you see every 15 minutes in the night sky, at that height, it was above my head and very high. - Object Origin: southern to northern. - Object Destination: About 1/4 way up in the night sky, but below the saucepan stars. - Moon Visible: no moon. - Moon Size Comparison: 1/4 size of a standard moon size. - Planets Visible: yes the saucepan this was to the left of it though, other bright stars and clusters visible too, it was cloudless, but me looking at the stars now there is some cloud now, cause I looked for a moon, I was concentrating on the object, I saw wow. - Weather Visibility: Clear, Pleasant, Calm. I'm so excited I saw this wow. |
